AutoClipX is a small and extremely simple tool to help you move content to and from your Windows clipboard. With this useful utility you will not need to use your keyboard to copy and paste content through your clipboard – all you need to do is select and highlight with your mouse any portion of text, and it will be automatically copied to your clipboard. You can then paste this text using nothing but your mouse, and with the button of your choice. You can use the same mouse button - or a different one - to clear the contents of your clipboard, so you will never need to remember how to access it through your keyboard. You will need to keep that button pressed for a few microseconds so that the program understands what you want it to do, but that functionality is also customizable.
You can use your keyboard though to activate and deactivate AutoClipX – together with the corresponding icon in the system tray area, you have the option of defining hotkey combinations for these two operations. AutoClipX can work with any of the three main cursor types used – I-Beam, Arrow, and Hand cursor. The arrow cursor needs to be used carefully in this context, as it is extremely powerful when it comes to selecting high portions of text with just one click. You can add full HTML pages to your clipboard just by pointing to it, so use it wisely. To avoid this, the program can be set to disable automatic copying in the windows of your choice – just list them in the appropriate section in the program’s settings, and AutoClipX will only allow you to paste text and clear the clipboard if any of those windows is the active one.
If you happen to be a compulsive clipboard user, AutoClipX may certainly save you time and keyboard use.
